About the services for individuals

  • In a world rife with mental health clinicians, consultants and coaches, it can be daunting and difficult trying to find who and what you really need.

I’ve kissed my share of frogs in the therapeutic world and so have many of my clients. The winning formula isn’t so much predicated on the model of care as it is on the context that it is founded - a relationship that feels comfortable paired with a communication style that facilitates you feeling supported and safely challenged to explore your inner world.

My supervision and coaching practice is person-centred, which means that the most important part of our interaction is that I am with you, rather than what intervention I use. I also ensure that we think about the systems that inform your lived experience, including family, communities, and the broader society in which we live.

My communication style is uncomplicated and strengths based, and our conversation will reject the common understanding of ‘supervision’ as surveillance, instead imagining the concept of SUPER-vision: an enhanced way of seeing the world with the benefit of a wider perspective and making sense of things together.

  • Some relationships are long, and others are brief; it depends largely on the issues involved and the aim of the our engagement. The model of care we follow will be dictated by best practice and your needs, and articulated together as we get to know one another. If you would like to discuss this in a discovery call, we can absolutely do that, although sometimes the journey is clarified as we begin the work together. How it usually goes is that we have a few sessions and the nature and duration of the relationship that we will have becomes clearer.

  • If you have known me in another practice setting and know what kind of service you want and need, please feel free to book a session that best suits your needs (see service descriptions below).

If you are unsure, or we have not yet met, please feel free to book a discovery call, or you can call or email me directly. A conversation will elucidate whether I’m the right person to work with you and we will go from there.

About the services for organisations

  • My collective experience in qualitative research of complex interventions in health practice, university education, and senior consultancy for Government departments has set me up with a sound foundational knowledge of how to develop and deliver interventions for organisations who need a hand with improving culture and the wellbeing of staff.

In a world where so many professions fall into the category of ‘high-stress’, supporting organisations to support their staff, and to build and maintain a culture that includes and champions wellbeing is so important.

What I have witnessed in my work with many organisations is a worrying trend toward assigning 100% of responsibility to individuals to manage their work-based stress with little thought put into what might happen structurally to mitigate workplace stress arising in the first place. In reality, individual wellbeing is a delicate balance between individual and organisational responsibility and in my work with organisations, I try to encourage both.

In my work with organisations, I use a wide variety of contemporary and seminal evidence based practices to inform wellbeing seminars based on client need.

  • Imagine if, rather than receiving a generic, off-the-shelf, ho-um wellbeing lecture, you could ask someone to create and deliver a bespoke, evidence based seminar on topics pertaining to mental health and wellbeing for your staff…

Well… Imagine no more. Here I am, and delighted to provide!

A great way to start is for us to have a conversation about what your organisation needs and the industry you are in, and any information you already have about key sources of stress for your organisation and its employees. For example, perhaps you’ve been through something really stressful together (restructure, death of a staff member, conflict), or perhaps you have noticed that the group as a whole is stressed and worn-out, and needing some help with self-care and wellbeing.

I have a range of topics and interventions that I tend to speak about in workshops that I can send out to you to choose from. However, what I most like to do is for us to survey your staff to see what they are interested in, and if there are particular topics or questions that they have. I can address topics of interest with evidence based answers, and tailor the educational seminar to meet your organisation’s needs. If what you are asking for is outside my scope, I’ll be upfront about that. The seminars can be didactic or semi-interactive according to your preference, however I will be upfront in saying that I will not force participation for ethical reasons and because to do so would be in opposition with the ethos of wellbeing.

Frequency and number of seminars is assessed on the basis of need and preference, and the amount of things you want included.

  • Please feel free to phone or email me, and we can begin a conversation about how my skill set might be of use for your organisation.

    • Public, private and corporate organisations that wish to improve their structure and culture in terms of wellbeing and mental health, and support wellbeing of staff

    • Organisations that require provision of support and psychological first aid following traumatic events

    • Organisations that wish to explore how to operationalise principles of trauma-informed care within their structure

Polly’s rates & service descriptions

Therapeutic coaching

Therapeutic coaching is designed for individuals who want to dig deep and grow through their challenges. Ideal for folks who have at least partially integrated their trauma, therapeutic coaching is centred around post-traumatic growth and getting in touch with your wisest, most embodied self. Therapeutic coaching is generally a longer-term process and is held in a psychotherapeutic framework, exploring meaning-making and connections between past, present and future.

This style of therapy is ideal for people who are wanting to make, or are in the process of making or coming to terms with radical changes in their lives. Looking at the omnipresence of endings and beginnings, we explore the continuum of navigating grief and loss, and welcoming all the incumbent feelings as a means to processing and integrating them.

Interpersonal skill and communication consultancy

Interpersonal skill and communication consultancy is for those who now realise that this was the fundamental piece of education that they were sorely lacking in their schooling years. I can assist you with up-skilling, and/or working through tricky communication pieces and interpersonal situations in your work or personal life, that leave you feeling unsure of how to progress - such as managing conflict, developing assertion, cultivating active listening and approaching delicate issues and setting interpersonal boundaries.

Writing engagements

I have extensive experience in academic writing, opinion blogging and evidence based blogging. The cost is calculated by the length of time predicted to write the piece, the word length and the effort required (e.g. opinion pieces generally require less effort, and evidence based pieces considerably more). I am very interested in contributing to collaborative pieces, especially academic ones.
